Anitas Mexican Grill Reviews

Great price , you get a nice size portion of food. Definitely a hidden. Really delicious classic Mexican good.

Massive street tacos. I got 4 and it was way too much. 3 is plenty. Great staff too. Very friendly and helpful.

This is a very small taco joint in the BP Yorkmount plaza. Order at the counter, small area to sit and eat. The place is packed at lunch time and I know why, the food is AMAZING!!! I ordered tacos al pastor with guacamole and a side of hot sauce. Yes they have hot sauces on the tables but the homemade is always the way to go!! Very close to CLT airport, I will definitely be back!

A hidden gem south of the airport. I go at least once a week. Even with the line out the door, it moves fast and they process your order fast. Everyone is very friendly and the food is great and you get a lot for the price. I haven't had anything I didn't enjoy.

Lunch at Anita's Mexican Grill. If you haven't been here, you're missing out. They are only open 11am until 2:30 pm so it's definately just a lunch place. The quantity of meat they give you in these tacos is unreal, especially for the price ! I got the carne asada taco on a corn tortilla ($4). The meat was a bit overcooked, but had a ton of flavor. Plus just LOOK at how much meat they give you ! I couldn't fold the taco, it was that much meat !!! I ended up eating all the meat I could inside the taco and then using a fork to eat the rest that would not fit inside. I got a chili relleno special ($9.50) which came with either a hardshell or flour tortilla with either shredded chicken or ground beef with rice on the side. I got the shredded chicken. It was nice and juicy and had nice flavor. Just look at how stuffed it is ! These came with chips and salsa too. Hubby got one beef hard shelled taco and one chicken soft shelled taco. This came with chips and salsa. They have fountain drinks with free refills. The seating area is small. However, they have both high chairs and low chairs (See photo). We came at 1:10pm and lunch was starting to die down, so we were able to get a table. However, I had read online that starting at Noon the line is out the door and seating is scarce. Highly recommend for getting alot of good food for the money spent. Orders are taken at the counter then they call your name. The only thing I did not like were that the people behind the counter were wearing a mask. If someone on their staff is sick, they should not be serving food. The masks also prevent genuine interaction with the customer. FYI..Everything is given to you "to go" whether you plan to eat there or not.

I came in here for lunch today. The service was very quick and the food was reasonably priced - the portions are large! I ordered two tacos - carnitas and Al pastor - and a side of beans. The carnitas taco was my favorite. It's nice to find a good spot not far from the airport, this is truly a hidden gem!

Such good food. Friendly staff. The food is delicious, very reasonably priced and darn delicious. I've eaten my way up through Anita's menu and there's nothing I regret ordering so far. The star of the show is their grilled chicken, anything made with that chicken is 100% pure bliss. The salsas are good. Ask for their Verde salsa... yummmmm. My only regret is the limited hours Anita's is open. But it's 6 out of 5 stars from me.
Anitas Mexican Grill
Anita's Mexican Grill brings bold, authentic Mexican flavors to Charlotte, NC. Located at 2904 Yorkmont Rd Ste C, this hidden gem is where tacos, burritos, and handmade salsas meet generous portions and a family-style vibe.
Discover Authentic Mexican Food in Charlotte
Tucked into the bustling heart of Charlotte's business district, Anita’s Mexican Grill isn’t just a quick stop—it’s a culinary experience for anyone craving fresh Mexican dishes made with love. From the outside, it may seem like your everyday eatery, but step inside and the warm aroma of grilled carne asada, hand-pressed tortillas, and freshly chopped cilantro instantly tells a different story. It's not just about feeding people here—it’s about sharing heritage, with recipes passed down through generations.
If you're searching for a place to unwind after a long day or squeeze in a lunch that actually tastes like home-cooked food, this is it. Regulars swear by the street tacos—especially the al pastor—while newcomers quickly fall in love with the vibrant flavors of enchiladas verdes and tamales. Even something as simple as their rice and beans feels comforting and intentional. This isn’t fast food; it’s slow-cooked tradition in a modern setting.
What’s On the Menu and Why It Matters
Anita’s menu goes beyond the expected. While you’ll find favorites like chicken burritos, steak quesadillas, and chips with guacamole, the charm lies in their daily specials and rotating regional dishes. Their mole poblano, for instance, layers more than 20 ingredients into a single sauce—a rich, bittersweet, deeply earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with shredded chicken.
Every dish here is made to order, and you can taste the difference. The ingredients are fresh—jalapeños with a real bite, lime juice that’s just been squeezed, and meats that are grilled, not microwaved. That’s why people keep coming back. And for those with dietary needs, they’re surprisingly accommodating—there’s a clear effort to ensure everyone leaves satisfied.
But beyond the food itself, the staff here deserves a spotlight. You’re always greeted with a smile, often remembered by name, and never rushed. It feels like eating at a friend’s place, which isn’t something you can say about every place in Charlotte.
A Local Spot Worth Returning To
What makes Anita's Mexican Grill stand out isn't just the food—it’s the consistency, the heart behind each plate, and the sense of local pride. This isn’t part of a chain. It’s a family-owned spot that serves the community with care, and you can tell. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, it’s clear they care just as much about your experience as they do the seasoning on the carnitas.
The location on Yorkmont Road is particularly convenient if you're near the airport, the business parks, or just passing through. And if you’re on a tight lunch schedule, they’ve mastered the balance between speed and quality, making them a favorite among professionals in the area.
It’s worth noting how often their reviews highlight the same things: flavorful food, clean setting, and a genuinely kind team. It’s not uncommon to see someone write that Anita’s has become their go-to comfort spot, whether for weekday lunches or Saturday family dinners.
Real Experiences, Real Flavor
Let’s not overlook how important reliability is when it comes to food. There are countless restaurants that get it right once or twice. What Anita’s does differently is repeat that success plate after plate, day after day. Locals often mention how the quality hasn’t dipped, even after years of visiting.
For example, a customer who lives nearby shared that they’ve tried most of the menu and can vouch for the birria tacos, the carne asada burrito, and the house-made horchata. According to them, “It’s the closest I’ve come to real Mexican food outside of Mexico.”
Another frequent visitor brings her coworkers every Friday—and every time, someone discovers a new favorite. That’s the kind of loyalty only genuine flavor can earn.
If you're in Charlotte and craving something that hits all the right notes—comfort, spice, and authenticity—Anita’s Mexican Grill is more than worth the visit. There's heart in every corner, flavor in every bite, and a community at every table.
The food was awesome and the service was friendly. I got the vegetarian fajitas without dairy. Took a star off for the INSANE amount of trash made for 1 order that I ate right there in the restaurant. They don't have "for here" plates. Everything is in Styrofoam. And then in a plastic bag on top of that. All the cups are Styrofoam. The silverware is plastic. The trash totally covered my table just to get to my food. Styrofoam isn't even recyclable. Please please work on that.
